 | | | The Grand Hotel, which originally opened its doors in 1885, is located in the former palace of one of Poland's grandest aristocratic families, the Czartoryskis. After being taken over by the state in 1947, it was fully revived in 1990. Today it is in pristine shape, with lashings of gilt and marble setting the tone. It has an excellent location just off the Market Square, and you can dine in a splendid hall where many historic figures have enjoyed dinner in the past (of today's big hitters, Colen Powell was a guest in 2004). Eight luxurious suites are also available to guests, and all rooms have tip-top air-conditioning and immaculate bathrooms. | |
